The judgment of the Kerala High Court records the following account. Head Constable of Venjaramoodu Police Station demanded Rs.500 from an accused in Crime No.17/99 for deleting his name from the accused array, and accepted Rs.300 in phenolphthalein-smeared notes in a VACB trap on 10 March 1999. The Special Judge, Thiruvananthapuram convicted him under Sections 7 and 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) of the PC Act. The Kerala High Court dismissed his appeal on 5 November 2007, holding the demand and knowing acceptance proved through the complainant's admissions and independent trap witnesses. The Supreme Court dismissed his further appeal on 13 August 2015, holding the High Court's confirmation of the 1-year concurrent sentences suffered no infirmity.
