The judgment of the Madhya Pradesh High Court records the following account. Head Constable Subhashchandra Joshi of Pipalrawan Police Station, Dewas, while investigating a case against complainant \[name withheld\] and his three brothers, demanded Rs. 1,500 to release them on bail, threatening to send them to jail if unpaid. On 18.07.1999 the Lokayukta (SPE Ujjain) trapped him red-handed inside the police station accepting treated currency, with a positive phenolphthalein test and recovery of the notes from his bag. The Special Judge, Dewas, convicted him under Sections 7 and 13(1)(d) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore Bench) dismissed his appeal, holding motive, demand and acceptance proved and rejecting his afterthought medicine-contamination defence, directing surrender by 02.04.2012.

> We have also gone through the reasonings assigned by learned Special Judge convicting the appellant and we find them to be quite cogent as it is based on correct appreciation of evidence and law and hence, by extending our stamp of approval to those reasonings and findings we hereby dismiss this appeal.
