The Uttarakhand High Court dismissed Constable Deepak Singh Bhandari's writ petition, upholding his dismissal from service on 13 May 2010. The Court recorded that in 2007 he took Rs. 1 lakh from villager a Tehri Garhwal man, claiming influence with superior officers and promising to get a Tehri Garhwal man's son recruited into the Uttarakhand Police, and never refunded the money after the son failed selection. It held the inquiry finding that he had demanded and accepted the money was justified and that such conduct was serious misconduct.
