The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed the writ petition of Exemptee Head Constable of the Haryana Police, Karnal, thereby sustaining a major disciplinary penalty for bribe-taking. \[name withheld\] and Head Constable were accused in FIR No.465 of 12.9.2007 of demanding a bribe from a Karnal man under threat of a false NDPS case, but both were acquitted by the Special Judge, Karnal in 2010 after the complainant and an eyewitness turned hostile. In the parallel departmental enquiry \[name withheld\] was held guilty of demanding and taking his share of the bribe, punished with reversion to Constable, reduced on appeal to stoppage of one annual increment with cumulative effect plus integrity-dishonest ACRs.
