On 5 February 2014 the Gujarat High Court Division Bench dismissed appeals by two Gondal lady head constables and upheld their dismissal from service. The court found that a woman accused entrusted to their overnight custody on 6-7 October 1993 had escaped through their negligence, for which both stood finally convicted under section 225A(b) IPC (six months simple imprisonment plus fine).
