The judgment of the Patna High Court records the following account. \[name withheld\], appointed as a constable in Purnea in September 1981, challenged his May 2012 dismissal by the Superintendent of Police, Madhubani, for securing the job with a forged school certificate. The court found he had produced an Arwal school certificate showing a 1956 birth date while records of Maheshwari Academy, Katihar showed a 1949 birth date and an intermediate pass in 1967, making him over-age at appointment. The court held a regular departmental proceeding had proved the forgery, the appellate authority had rightly refused interference, and no mercy was due to one who cheated the State to join the police.
