The Gauhati High Court upheld the removal from service of Armed Branch Constable of Golaghat DEF for misconduct. Served a show-cause notice in September 2003 for maintaining an illegal relationship with a named woman while posted for duty, he was removed by the SP Golaghat in August 2005, affirmed by the DIG in May 2006. The Court held the departmental charge stood on a footing different from the connected criminal case in which he was later acquitted, was substantiated by material on record, and that delay further disentitled him.
