The Allahabad High Court, Lucknow Bench (Division Bench, 29-11-2024), convened at 6:30 p.m. on a habeas mentioning, found that investigating officer Sub-Inspector of Police Station Jagdishpura, Agra, took an eight-months-pregnant woman and her two-year-old child from home to Police Station Chinhat, Lucknow, at about 12:15 p.m. merely to record a section 161 statement in a 2021 kidnapping FIR and kept them there until the court intervened. > The action on the part of the Investigating Officer is no less than torture of a victim whereas every officer is expected to act fairly in the discharge of his duties.
