The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh at Srinagar (Sanjay Parihar, J.; Sanjeev Kumar, J. concurring) partly allowed the State's acquittal appeal against the 2011 Sessions Judge Kupwara judgment in FIR No. 83/2003. Then-SHO \[name withheld\]. \[name withheld\] had ferried Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammad fidayeen Mohd. Ibrahim in the official police vehicle from Sogam to Kupwara on 12 May 2003, misrepresenting him as an SOG operative; the militant, wearing a stolen constable's uniform, attacked a police/CRPF convoy near SBI Kupwara, killing two CRPF jawans of 113 Bn and injuring six personnel before being neutralised. Holding the trial court's acquittal perverse in ignoring clinching evidence, the High Court convicted Wani of murder by conspiracy and sentenced him to imprisonment for life, directing surrender to the trial court; the co-accused \[name withheld\]'s acquittal was upheld.
