The High Court rejected the investigating officer's apology and his explanation that he did not know of the extension, holding that he knew of the first protection order and should have verified its status, including from the court's website. The High Court held the investigating officer guilty of wilful disobedience and sentenced him to one month's imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2,000; the contempt case against a sub-inspector was dismissed because he had no role in the arrest. At the Public Prosecutor's request the sentence was suspended till 19.10.2026 to allow an appeal.
