## Charged, not convicted 1

- Charged, not convicted 27 July 2026
Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption reported that it trapped and arrested a Special Sub-Inspector of Police of Alangayam Police Station, Tirupattur district, on 27 July 2026 while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for releasing the complainant and his vehicle, seized after a road accident, on station bail. This is an allegation: an arrest in a trap is not a conviction, and the officer is presumed innocent unless a court finds otherwise.
