Tamil Nadu's Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption reported that it trapped and arrested a Special Sub-Inspector of Police of Paramathi Police Station, Namakkal district, on 29 October 2022 while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for safeguarding the complainant in a complaint against him. This is an allegation: an arrest in a trap is not a conviction, and the officer is presumed innocent unless a court finds otherwise.
