The Special Judge, Delhi convicted ASI of PP Mangla Puri in FIR 30(A)/91 of the Anti-Corruption Branch for demanding Rs 2,000 from complainant \[name withheld\] for settling a quarrel complaint (lodged by \[name withheld\]) entrusted to him - threatening arrest unless Rs 1,000 was paid by the next evening - catching him red-handed accepting Rs 1,000, holding him guilty on 27.02.2001 under sections 7 and 13(2) of the PC Act and sentencing him to one year RI with Rs 500 fine, as recorded in the CAT's 23.08.2016 order (OA 100/1605/2013); he had been suspended since 02.05.1991. His criminal appeal No.177/2001 was dismissed by the Delhi High Court on 25.01.2011 and the Supreme Court dismissed his SLP No.3666/2011 on 11.05.2011, maintaining the conviction. (The CAT order once misprints the trial year as 2011; the appeal number, HC/SLP dates and 2007 retirement confirm 2001.)
