## Summary

No. 50/2005) convicted Head Constable of PS Rishikesh on 06.09.2006 for the 15.11.2004 shooting of woman co-passenger a Dehradun woman during a vehicle interception near the IDPL Gate on suspicion of liquor smuggling (Case Crime No. 455/2004), sentencing him to life imprisonment under s.302 r/w s.34 IPC and s.27(1) of the Arms Act while acquitting three constables. The Uttarakhand High Court at Nainital confirmed the conviction on 27.12.2012 (Crl. Appeals 217-218/2006); the convict's Supreme Court appeal abated on his death (2025 INSC 114, decided 28.01.2025), leaving the High Court confirmation standing.
