How we verify →

The five revisions were withdrawn, while the underlying government references and Labour Court adjudication orders remained open to challenge through fresh writ petitions.

What happened

The High Court recorded that Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited challenged government references dated 31 March 2022 and 1 April 2022 under Section 10 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

In a separate case, M/S Zydus Healthcare Ltd v. Shri [name withheld] (WP(C) 544/2025 and 545/2025), the High Court judgment of 17 November 2025 recorded that one reference asked whether an employee's retrenchment was illegal and what relief he should receive. It said Labour Case No.05 of 2022 was then registered before the Labour Court, West Tripura.

That same judgment recorded that the Labour Court rejected Zydus's request to decide the validity of its domestic inquiry and the employee's status as preliminary issues. The High Court dismissed Zydus's writ petitions, leaving the labour proceeding in place.

On 28 November 2025, the High Court allowed Glenmark to withdraw five civil revisions (CRP 63/2025 to CRP 67/2025) with liberty to challenge the references and adjudication orders through fresh writ petitions.

What the record says

“Counsel for the petitioners seeks to withdraw all these revisions with liberty to challenge in fresh Writ Petitions the references under Section 10 of Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 dt. 31.03.2022 and dt. 01.04.2022 and also the orders impugned in these revisions pursuant to adjudication as per the said references.”

A peaceful economic act

The state subjected a private employer's dismissal decisions to compulsory labour adjudication. The official records identify no violence, injury, child labour, bonded labour or unpaid-wage allegation.

What we could not confirm

The 28 November order is brief and does not reproduce the allegations behind every dismissal. The 17 November judgment provides fuller facts for one connected employee dispute. The records do not show whether fresh writ petitions were subsequently filed.
