What happened
PIB reported that Deendayal Port Authority conducted a trial shore-to-ship methanol-bunkering operation on 2 April 2026 with Stolt Tankers, J M Baxi, Aegis Vopak and Indian Oil Corporation, with on-site verification by DNV.
PIB states that DNV rated Kandla Port Level 6 on the IAPH Port Readiness Level scale for methanol bunkering.
PIB states that the port is working toward approximately 500 KTPA of RFNBO-compliant e-methanol by 2028-29 for deep-sea dual-fuel vessels on the Asia-Europe corridor and plans ship-to-ship bunkering next.
