CW-2007-0016Bokaro, JharkhandJudgment 14 December 2007

Akhilesh Kumar Singh vs State of Jharkhand and Ors.

The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal of Bihar Military Police writer constable Akhilesh Kumar Singh and upheld his 1987 dismissal for tampering with the general diary, making double and false entries, and misappropriating food allowance by claiming presence while absent, one charge of which he admitted. Rejecting his parity plea with co-delinquent, whose charges were less grave, the Court held that courts in judicial review do not ordinarily interfere with the quantum of punishment. The appeal was dismissed with no order as to costs.
