ConcludedThe Gujarat High Court upheld service punishment imposed on police personnel.
On 6 January 2022 the Gujarat High Court Division Bench dismissed the appeal of an Armed Police Constable (SRP Group-12, Gandhinagar) against his dismissal from service ordered on 28 April 1998. The court recorded that the appellant, appointed in February 1983, had been charge-sheeted for producing a false school leaving certificate and misrepresenting his date of birth, and that he approached the court only in June 2020 seeking parity with other dismissed constables. Agreeing with the Single Judge, the court held the appellant had accepted the dismissal for almost 23 years and could not question it in extraordinary writ jurisdiction after such inordinate delay, leaving the dismissal undisturbed.
