CBI v. Bijnor Police Sub-Inspector
The Special CBI Court at Ghaziabad on 29 March 2012 convicted 17 Bijnor policemen led by then-SI [name withheld] under ss. 120B/364/302 IPC and sentenced each to life imprisonment plus Rs.5,000 fine for abducting a Bijnor man @ a Bijnor man, a Gurdwara Rakabganj sewadar, from Delhi on 30 October 1992 and murdering him in a staged encounter near Kashiwala village (PS Bardhapur, Bijnor) the next day with planted weapons. The CBI had registered the case on 15 November 1993 on Supreme Court orders (Crl WP 632/92) and chargesheeted 19 officials in March 1996, two of whom died during trial.
